Zero barriers to great art.

In the summer of 2016, Allen and Andrew Wilcox envisioned a new type of cultural institution for Central New York.

On the one hand, Central New York didn’t have a permanent seasonal theater that matched the lore and beauty of its natural environs, nor the creativity of its people.

At the same time, there were few opportunities for the youth of Central New York to work under and alongside professional performers, directors, and producers, nor to explore their passion for arts and literature in a rigorous, hands-on way.

We determined that one’s geography, wealth, and background should pose no barrier to exceptional theater and arts education opportunities.

And so we founded the Theater at Woodshill.
